CLEANING CARTS TO BE USED IN WEEKEND CLEAN-UPS
Last year, selected Alfriston College Students had a plan to make some ‘rubbish vehicles' suitable for assisting the cleaning our town centre. The Cleaning Cart idea was born...
Four students, guided by teacher Richard Mahoney, worked tirelessly to build two carts for this purpose.
This past week, the PD Corrections Centre have agreed to utilise these carts for cleaning projects around the town centre over the mornings during the weekends. This will hope to eliminate some of the collections of rubbish in our town over the weekend period, when the council cleaners are not about.
The Manurewa Business Association and the Department of Corrections are grateful to have the opportunity to use this type of cart for the betterment of the town, and thanks to Richard Mahoney and the Students for their tireless work into creating these carts, it has become a reality.
