Communities and Residents support Central Rail link
Communities and Residents continues to support Central Rail Link
Immediate Release
10th October 2013
Communities and Residents continue to support the Central Rail Link project despite recent census data.
“Census 2013 data released recently thus far justifies a call for a rethink of some key principles of the Auckland’s controversial Unitary Plan,” says Christine Fletcher, Councillor of Albert-Eden-Roskill Ward. “This draft Unity Plan was modelled on a high growth population. However, it would be wrong to call for the planning for the Central Rail Link (CRL) to be withdrawn.”
The business case for the CRL which was accepted by the Government was modelled on a mid-growth population forecast and model. Auckland must not fall behind in building its critical infrastructure.
Christine Fletcher, Nigel Turnbull, Denise Krum and the team at Communities and Residents position of support for the CRL remains unchanged.
