Coromandel Residents Say Hands Off Schedule 4
Coromandel residents, CLAIM and Coromandel Watchdog have blocked mining activities in the Coromandel Harbour this morning to protect Schedule Four.
“Schedule 4 was created to protect our most precious places from toxic mining, Sea Group Holdings are trying to undermine that - there is no excuse for prospecting in the Coromandel Harbour,” said Coromandel Watchdog Coordinator Renee Annan.
“Sea Group Holding’s contractors have left the site at this stage after peaceful protests from 8.30am this morning.”
“Residents will continue to peacefully protest this site to ensure protection of the Harbour which is an important for local aquaculture, fishing and tourism.”
