Volunteers Day to acknowledge service to Rotorua community
The massive effort local volunteers make in the Rotorua community will be recognised at Volunteers Day next week.
Volunteers Day, on Thursday (5 December) from 9am to 12.30pm at Parksyde Community Centre, is organised and funded by Rotorua District Council (RDC) and Rotorua Trust.
RDC community projects officer, Carole Parker, said over 50 people have registered already to attend the free event and she is encouraging other interested people from all areas of the volunteer sector to register now as spaces are limited.
“Volunteers Day recognises our special volunteers and the invaluable work they do in our community. It’s also an opportunity for volunteers and people who work with them to come together and share their skills and expertise.
“Many people don’t realise how essential volunteer workforces have become, particularly in the health and social sectors of our community. This is an opportunity to thank them and to allow them to share their knowledge and experiences with other like-minded people.”
