Nelson City Council announces partnership with DataCol
City council deploys class leading services for meter reading.
Christchurch, New Zealand. 11 December 2013.
Nelson City Council is partnering with DataCol, New Zealand’s leading meter reading and data collection company, to cover the 21,000 meters in the city.
Since the implementation of universal metering in 1999, Nelson has witnessed a reduction in peak water demand during the summer months. “The council and people of Nelson already know the benefits of water metering. What we bring to the city is a ‘best in class’ service, which means better efficiency and a solid and proven future proofed solution, which means better value for the city’s ratepayers,” says Bruce Franks, CEO of DataCol.
Bruce says the experience of working for water metering and management in large cities such as Auckland and Sydney, as well as smaller ones like Tauranga and Hamilton, puts DataCol in a unique position to provide the best service for the residents of Nelson.
DataCol has a wealth of experience from the water, gas, electricity and agricultural sectors. They have also been contracted to Watercare Services Ltd, the water services division of the Auckland City Council, for the past four years, and are responsible for 87% of all of the Super City’s water meter readings. Across the Tasman, DataCol solutions have also been chosen by Sydney Water to read the city’s 1.3 million water meters.
“With this relationship in place, the City continues to be the leading example of water management and conservation in the country and will gain even more accuracy and efficiency of meter readings,” concludes Mr Franks.
