Beacon Activation in the Te Urewera Ranges
This morning Taupo's Greenlea Rescue helicopter was alerted by the RCCNZ to a PLB activation in the Urewera ranges.
The beacon was traced to the Tawhiwhi hut where a 68 year old woman had spent the night vomiting with abdominal pain.
The woman was one of a group of fifteen mature trampers who were on day two of a four day hike from Ruatahuna to Galatea.
She was taken to Rotorua hospital for further treatment.
