Life Flight responded to the South Wairarapa for a Quad Bike accident late this morning.
Life Flight responded on the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard.
The accident occurred on Haurangi Road in Ruakokoputuna, south of Martinborough.
A 22 year old Scottish tourist was driving along the road when she apparently lost control and ended up rolling down a five metre bank.
The accident was witnessed by people in a car following the quad bike. The witnesses called 111 and managed to carry her back up to the roadside. A road ambulance arrived at the same time as the helicopter.
The woman is suffering from possible back injuries, serious leg injuries as well as other cuts and bruises.
She has been transported to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department in a serious condition.
