Northpower – Easter storm
17 April, 2014
Northpower Limited advises of widespread power outages in Kaipara and Whangarei affecting thousands of customers following high winds overnight.
Areas without power include Taipuha, Turiwiri, southern Kaiwaka, Brynderwyns, Maungaturoto, Whakapirau, Langs Beach, Portland, Whatitiri, Tutukaka and Kensington. The Kensington outage was widespread but power is back on to most of the area now.
Lines crews have been mobilised and are currently working in dangerous conditions to repair faults on a number of 11,000 volt feeders.
People should report the potential cause of any power outages to the Northpower Faults line – 0800-10-40-40.
Members of the public are asked to remain clear of downed powerlines at all times, keep others clear and also keep animals away.
