Northpower deploys helicopter to assess damage
17 April, 2014
Northpower has deployed a helicopter to check for damage on its 33kV line from Maungaturoto to Kaiwaka following a major power outage affecting Maungaturoto, Brynderwyns, Kaiwaka and Mangawhai.
The Northland lines company may also use the chopper to assess damage elsewhere on its electricity network in Kaipara and Whangarei Districts.
The 11kV Dargaville north line is the latest area to be affected by a power outage.
Chief Executive Mark Gatland is continuing to urge his staff and the public to keep safety top of mind as lines crews continue with repairs.
People should report the potential cause of any power outages to the Northpower Faults line – 0800-10-40-40.
Members of the public are asked to remain clear of downed powerlines at all times, keep others clear and also keep animals away.
