Quieter Week for Vector Crews

Quieter Week for Vector Crews

Vector has made it easier for its northern network customers to report an outage. Instead of calling their retailer, they can now get in touch with Vector directly.

Everyone on our network should now call us to report an outage on 0508 VECTOR (0508 832 867) 24 Hours, 7 days.

You can also follow real-time outage information and updates on Vector's outage app (available free on your smartphone or tablet), our website or follow us on Twitter @Vectorltd

Network summary for week ending 7 September 2014

Electricity

There were two car v poles incidents in the Auckland region during the week. A vehicle struck a pole in Mt Albert, bringing down power lines. There was also a car v pole incident in Manurewa early on Saturday morning. In both cases, our contractors replaced the poles and power was fully restored.

Emergency services requested an isolation of power to house fires in Forrest Hill and Helensville during the week. Our control room remained in close contact with the fire service throughout these events.

A light truck took down power lines in Remuera on Friday night. Crews repaired these quickly and power was restored.

Gas

Emergency services informed us of gas trace odours in St Heliers and Hamilton (2) during the week. The sites were checked, and no traces of gas were found.

Gas pipes were struck by third party contractors in Hamilton and Greenlane during the week. Our contractors made the necessary repairs.

Shorts

• Vector owns over 18,000 kilometres of overhead and underground lines in the greater Auckland area, and 12,752 of gas pipe lines, almost half of which supply gas to Auckland.
