By now we've all heard of 40 and 42 Paturoa Rd Titirangi and the threat to the magnificent native forest on the property. But what about the two year back story to this planning application?

Firstly we are told that one of the developers of the property is in a joint venture with Auckland Council at Westgate.

Secondly we're told that the property was bought for a fraction of the going rate for similar blocks of land in the area.

Thirdly this program has been told the councils own arborist report was modified without his knowledge during the consent appraisal process.

So what really is going on inside Auckland Council planning department. Is it just a case of the good old boys and a nod nod wink wink?

I talk with the neighbors planner and ecologist Dr Mark Bellingham and with Waitkere Ranges Local Board members.

We also get to see the planning staff under great pressure from questions posed by Maori Statutory Board Member David Taipari.
