Man winched from Whale Bay, Raglan
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a building site in Whale Bay near Raglan at approximately 3pm this afternoon.
A 47 year old local man was working at the building site when he fell down a steep bank sustaining an upper leg fracture. NZ Fire and St John Ambulance staff where dispatched to the scene by road but on assessment called the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter due to the isolated nature of the site. The only access was via a rough 4wd track with the patient located further down a steep bank making access difficult and transport uncomfortable to the patient.
