Unison Announces Partnership with Great Lake Taupo Hockey Club
Thursday 30 April, 2015 – Taupo hockey players will be sporting bright orange drink bottles and black backpacks this season, as part of a new sponsorship agreement between local electricity distributor, Unison and Great Lake Taupo Hockey Club.
As a major sponsor of junior rugby, netball and hockey in Hawke’s Bay, Unison now plans to offer similar support to hockey in Taupo.
“Since partnering with junior rugby, netball and hockey in Hawke’s Bay, we have developed a successful programme that supports the growth of junior sport from a grass roots level. We felt hockey in Taupo provided us with an opportunity to extend the programme to another community within our Network region,” said Unison Group Chief Executive, Ken Sutherland.
“Through our sponsorship of junior
hockey in Taupo, we will be able to reach thousands of
children with our important safety messages, while
encouraging active participation in sport.”
Hockey
Development Officer for Great Lake Taupo Hockey Club, Aniek
Lenoir said she was very grateful Unison had come on board
as a major sponsor of junior hockey in Taupo.
“A major focus of our work in 2015 will be in junior hockey, developing our programme to an even higher level and ensuring every child develops a life-long passion for the game.
“With Unison’s support, we are able to offer many new and exciting opportunities for our young players across the region. It’s shaping up to be a very successful season.”
All Taupo junior hockey players will receive a kit bag, drink bottle and mouth guard from Unison, at an official launch party on Friday 1 May.
Throughout the season, Unison will run a variety of competitions and campaigns, including the ever-popular Great Photo competition and Sideline Supporters promotion. The Unison Medal ceremony will be held at the end of the season, which recognises one outstanding player from each junior hockey team who has shown work ethic, sportsmanship and discipline throughout the season.
The junior hockey programme will commence next week, with all games based at the Great Lake Taupo Hockey Club.
