Scirt Traffic Update: Moorhouse Ave

Scirt Traffic Update: Moorhouse Ave

http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/article/scirt-traffic-update-moorhouse-ave

Moorhouse Ave has been more congested than usual this week due to SCIRT work between Montreal and Durham Streets taking out a lane in each direction, west and east. These lane closures will last for another month. The brick barrel wastewater pipe is being repaired requiring an open trench system. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6749

Nearby work on Montreal St

As of today, Montreal St, leading off Moorhouse towards the city, will be down to one lane for about three weeks for wastewater lateral pipe repairs. Currently there is only one lane leading onto Montreal due to restrictions with turning from the brick barrel repairs area on Moorhouse.http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6840

However, people may want to use other ways to go north eg Fitzgerald Ave or Hagley Park’s border avenues. Electronic signs have been advertising this change for several days.

Overbridge update – westbound lane drop from Monday

SCIRT is also repairing the Moorhouse overbridge for several more months. From 11 May, Moorhouse Ave overbridge will have a lane out of action on the westbound side - heading towards Hagley Park. If you travel west at peak hours, please bear this in mind. The eastbound lane reduction will remain in place. The two lanes will both remain out for about two months. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6801

· SCIRT has until the end of next year to complete its work so there are some major projects which are in fairly close proximity between then and now.

· SCIRT is completing its central city work so the anchor projects are not held up by its work in the road.

· SCIRT is 90% of the way through its infrastructure repairs in the central city. All the northwest quarter is done around Victoria St, with current work concentrating around Moorhouse Ave, Tuam St, Madras St and the pump station on the Manchester/ Oxford Tce corner.

Thanks to everyone who is planning their journeys at peak hours and driving outside the peaks wherever possible. The best place for news is www.tfc.govt.nz for updates and maps showing one-ways and road works.
