Worcester St major pipe replacement Open Day

Worcester St major pipe replacement Open Day Saturday Linwood North Primary

http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/article/saturday-info-session-linwoods-worcester-and-woodham-residents

SCIRT’s McConnell Dowell team is inviting residents and people living near or on Woodham Road and Worcester St, east of Linwood Ave, to an information session this Saturday.

Location: The library at Linwood North Primary School, Woodham Road.
Time: 11 am to 1 pm, Saturday, 23 May, 2015
What is happening: McConnell Dowell’s engineers, health and safety, traffic and communications team members will be present to answer questions and go over key areas of concern like parking issues and access for residents. There will be activities for children.

This big pipe (a trunk main) replacement – called the Southern Relief – is going to make parts of Worcester St leading up to Woodham Road east of Linwood Ave one-way for the rest of this year. Some residents will not have access to their driveways.

Traffic effects upon residents and drivers
Already, the block of Worcester St south of Woodham Road is one-way, towards Linwood Ave only. From 25 May, two more blocks will be down to one-way and one lane – from Surrey to Maclean St and from Rochester to Linwood Ave. Outside these blocks residents will have two-way access to their properties and parking spaces.

Woodham to Dacre most affected
The block south of Woodham Road to Dacre St will be most affected by this work with a full road closure while the large trench to replace the badly damaged pipe is being put in place using sheet piles. (See the attached PDF invitation photo which was taken on a Fendalton pipe project. The pipe trench for Worcester St is even wider.) McConnell Dowell is working on ways to find safe parking for residents in this block and other ways to help residents while this work is underway.
