No appeals submitted after GELITA decision
Following Environment Canterbury’s
decision to grant GELITA a two-year period to invest in and
upgrade its buildings and factory, no submitters have lodged
appeals against the decision.
GELITA is now proceeding with a programme of upgrades and modifications, which require considerable investment. These upgrades are designed to improve odour control and enable GELITA to be in full compliance with its resource consent conditions.
The company is also beginning an improved community engagement programme to keep its neighbours informed about the progress of the improvement works. A community newsletter will be distributed to local residents this weekend, with an e-newsletter going to other stakeholders. A community liaison group meeting is also being held on June 18.
Interested parties can email info.nz@gelita.com if they wish to be kept informed via the new e-newsletter or join the community liaison group meetings.
