Sky Tower glows red to welcome Matariki
SKYCITY is lighting the Sky Tower red to welcome the beginning of Matariki which heralds the start of the New Year in the Maori calendar.
The Sky Tower will glow red from Friday 19 August to Sunday 21 August and will be visible at the Dawn Karakia on One Tree Hill on Saturday 20 August.
The Sky Tower is the southern hemisphere’s tallest man-made structure, and has become an iconic part of Auckland’s cityscape.
SKYCITY lights the Sky Tower to show support for a number of organisations and special events, often for charities or community initiatives that we support financially, or to mark national holidays, milestones or other celebrations.
