Motocross Accident
The Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was dispatched to Mangawhe at 3:15pm where a 10 year old male fell from his motocross bike and was hit by another bike. The rider received multiple injuries including a knock to the head and required immediate hospital assessment. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being flown to Tauranga hospital. The helicopter was called due to the distance from the required hospital and potential spinal injuries.
Philips Search and Rescue Trust is a charitable organisation, operating rescue helicopters throughout the Central North Island. Philips Search and Rescue Trust relies on support from principal sponsors and community donations. Special thanks to Tauranga’s principal sponsors, Trustpower and TECT. This crucial financial support ensures our rescue helicopters can continue to bring life-saving equipment, rescue personnel and trauma-trained medics directly to the patient.
