Community Renovation Weekend set to benefit local groups

Community Renovation Weekend set to benefit local groups

A new opportunity for community groups to undertake renovation projects for free has been launched today by Mitre 10 MEGA Taupō and 100% Lake Taupō Charitable Trust.

The ‘Mitre 10 MEGA Community Reno’ weekend, to occur on 19 and 20 March 2016, will see a local community group benefit from $25,000 worth of goods and services to makeover their building or land.

“We’re really excited about this new initiative,” said Craig Ladbrook, owner of Mitre 10 MEGA Taupō. “We’ve wanted to do something big in the Taupō community since we opened our new store in 2013, and think that this a great way we can give something back to say thank you for all your support.”

Applications are now open and close on 27 November. Community groups or organisations are invited to apply if they have a specific project in mind that is achievable to complete over a 48 hour period.

“It might be a new kitchen, roof repairs, fencing or decking, bathroom repairs, painting or garden makeovers,” says Craig. “We know that plenty of groups have these kinds of projects on their wish-list, but they’re just too hard or expensive to get done.”

Local philanthropic trust, the 100% Lake Taupō Charitable Trust, has partnered with Mitre 10 MEGA Taupō.

“We love the thought of helping groups at a really practical level,” says Brent Marshall of 100% Lake Taupō Charitable Trust. “We’ve given out many grants to groups over the years, and this is just another way we can help our local community to thrive.”
