New Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Group Launched

New Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Group Launched

The Rotorua District Residents and Ratepayers Inc. (RDRR) was launched on Friday 25 September.

It has broadened the purposes of its predecessor Rotorua Pro-Democracy Society (to restore respect for democratic principles and the rule of law) to include the reform of planning and financial management, and to return policy making powers to elected representatives.

The RDRR will be endorsing candidates standing in the Local Authority Elections on 8 October 2016 who support these wider purposes. For example, on 16 October, after 61% voted for him in a recent poll of members, the RDRR endorsed Dr. Reynold Macpherson as a mayoral candidate. He will lead a Campaign Team for the October 2016 council elections.

Residents and ratepayers who share the RDRR’s purposes are warmly invited to join. All pre-existing local residents’ and ratepayers’ associations are most welcome to discuss the mutual benefits of collaboration.
