Easy access for Christmas shoppers
SCIRT is embracing the spirit of Christmas opening up a U-turn under the Moorhouse Avenue overbridge to make shopping access easier for Christchurch people to the stores in the Harvey Norman Centre.
The U-turn opened at 10am on Thursday 3 December and will stay in place until the end of the Moorhouse overbridge repair project.
The U-turn will save shoppers who are heading east from having to use a detour via Colombo, Dundas, Manchester streets and Pilgrim Place to get to the Harvey Norman Centre.
Signs will be in place to guide vehicles through the U-turn. It is restricted to vehicles under 3.9 metres high. SCIRT asks vehicles follow the signs and drive with care at this busy time of year.
SCIRT's Downer delivery team has been repairing the Moorhouse Avenue overbridge since February this year.
