Carols
in the Square
Christchurch’s Cathedral Square will
come alive this Saturday with the sights and sounds of
Christmas-time chorus and family fun for the Carols in the
Square event organised by Christchurch St John’s Anglican
Church.
On Saturday 12 December from 4:00pm, the free community picnic and carol service will feature a mix of sing-along festive favourites performed in the heart of the central city.
For the young and young at heart, free face painting, kids’ games and bouncy castles will offer a variety of fun. Food vendors and craft stalls will also be available from 4:00pm, with the carol service beginning at 6:00pm.
St John's assistant minister Tim Capill, says it is the fourth year in a row the church has run the 'Carols in the Square' event and more than 1,500 people are expected to turn out on Saturday.
“We love Christchurch and it's a real joy to be able to provide another positive family-friendly community event in the centre of the city, celebrating the birth of our Lord, Jesus."
“We warmly invite families to bring along a picnic and enjoy the evening’s free entertainment."
