Local companies share Christmas joy with Christchurch City Mission
Two traditional Canterbury family businesses, Hellers and Button Family Crumpets, have teamed up with the Christchurch City Mission to spread Christmas cheer to families in need.
The City Mission today received enough food donations from Hellers and Button Family to make food packs for over 200 families and help cater for more than the 650 guest expected on Christmas Day.
“We are overwhelmed with the generosity of both Hellers and Button Family,” said Christchurch City Missioner Michael Gorman.
Kaiapoi-based Hellers has donated Christmas hams, bacon, sausages and Santa Rosa boneless chicken roasts.
Christchurch-based Button Family donated an additional 400 packets of crumpets.
“These donations have ensured that hundreds of families will be able to enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch in addition to lifting everyone’s spirits,” Missioner Gorman explained.
“We are delighted to be able to make a contribution that will help others particularly at this time of year,” said Hellers chief executive John McWhirter.
“Helping those in need at Christmas time is a responsibility that we share with all the other Canterbury families,” said Button Family chief executive officer Daniel Button.
