“This is an unfunded commitment from Phil who has a history of not showing us where the money is.”

“Public-private partnerships are an option but he doesn’t have the skills to deliver them. It might be suitable for a light rail project but we have to remember that it’s not going to come for free. There are already a number of major infrastructure projects that have yet to be delivered and some are still unfunded."

“Aucklanders and ratepayers aren’t an endless supply of cash. It’s a priority of mine that we get Council spending under control and back to delivering core services."

"Every dollar spent has to be worthwhile and generate real benefits for our community across Auckland - not just the inner city."

“Light rail may be a solution and I await Auckland Transport’s report with interest. However, there will be implications for other modes of transport on these already congested routes and that must be considered.”
