VINZ opens new inspection facility in Gore

VINZ opens new inspection facility in Gore

Gore, 22 February 2016 – VINZ (Vehicle Inspection New Zealand) has opened a testing station and new commercial vehicle inspection, servicing and repair hub in Gore.

The MP for Clutha-Southland, Todd Barclay, opened the centre.

VINZ, an appointed inspection organisation of the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), can inspect and certify commercial vehicles of all kinds in the new facility using state of the art testing equipment.

VINZ decided to make a strategic investment in Gore when, working with its partner, Transport Repairs Ltd, it identified an opportunity to support growth in the region by providing servicing and certification for local transport services.

“Previously local transport operators drove to centres like Dunedin and Invercargill for servicing and certification services,” says VINZ CEO, Gordon Shaw. “We recognised that having a local one-stop-shop would offer them significant benefits. The recent vehicle licensing reforms enabled us to partner with like-minded commercial vehicle service and repair companies to achieve this, growing our inspection facilities across the country and offering a full service approach to commercial vehicle fleets.”

“This will save transport operators time and fuel, reduce unnecessary wear and tear on trucks and roads and other assets,” says Jason Popplewell, CEO of Transport Services. “It will also increase productivity and create jobs for the region.”

The Gore testing station is part of a ten-hectare heavy commercial vehicle service facility developed by Transport Services. The service building holds seven bays, a truck wash area and a parts warehouse. The stand-alone VINZ testing station is staffed by a group of qualified and experienced VINZ inspectors. In high demand periods the VINZ inspectorate has access to a second testing lane within the transport repair service facility.
