Anthony Rimell to stand in Waimairi

Anthony Rimell to stand in Waimairi

Waimairi Ward.

The People’s Choice is pleased to announce it has selected Anthony Rimell to contest the Waimairi ward at the upcoming elections.

Anthony Rimell is a Pastor at Riccarton Baptist Church. He grew up in the north-west of Christchurch, and attended Burnside High. He got married in the area, and began his family there. Waimairi is also the ward where he first became involved in community issues.

“Waimairi deserves a councillor passionate about the area. As a new ward, Waimairi needs a councillor who really understands the area, and cares about our communities and neighbourhoods. We don’t need someone who just see this ward as a stepping stone.”

“I’m going to be making the common-sense case for protecting income-generating assets like Orion and Red Bus, so that our rates stay low and we can control our future. Selling off income-generating council assets is simply killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.”

“But I’m also passionate about making sure housing is affordable for families, our rivers and streams are protected, our public transport works, and congestion is dealt with.”

“I know how to empower communities to achieve great things. I want Waimairi to be the best place to start a family, bring up kids, and retire in peace.”
