640 patrols and new sponsor

640 patrols and new sponsor

In its sixth year Wellington South Community Patrol welcomes a new major sponsor - Nice Place Property Management. Existing sponsors New World Newtown and Caltex Basin Reserve have been with us since the beginning. The support of these businesses (as well as Newtown Workshop and AMI Insurance) is crucial to our success working with the NZ Police to help our communities feel safer.

Nice Place Property Management’s owner-operator Keith Powell is an active and committed member of the Newtown community and believes that we can all play a role in making it a safer place. For Keith, being a volunteer with the Community Patrol is an important part of that. “I’ve been involved in the Wellington South community for over 30 years now, so a safe environment for not only my tenants but all residents of Newtown is really important to me and my team, and I believe Wellington South Community Patrol plays a key role in helping to achieve that.

“I have been part of the Wellington South Community Patrol for 5 years. This includes regular patrols around the urban and sub-urban areas and an extra set of hands in the overall goal to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the area and build a safer community,” says Keith.

“This is a great opportunity to extend our commitment to making the area safer to work, live and play. We’re really proud to back the Community Patrol and all the great work of its volunteers.”

Also this month the Wellington South Community Patrol has moved its base to the Kilbirnie Police Station and will continue to focus on the city south of the CBD.

Neighbourly and www.wscp.org.nz serve as a useful tools to direct keen new volunteers to our activities. We have contributed to a number of convictions and enforcement actions relating to breaches of the Liquor Ban, and have helped numerous people in need (examples of which can be given verbally if needed).
