Postponement of Penguin Aversion Dog Training

Friday 16 September, 2016 9.30am

Press Release: Western Bay Wildlife Trust

Postponement of Penguin Aversion Dog Training The Western Bay Wildlife Trust has had to postpone the penguin aversion dog training courses at Mount Maunganui and Papamoa, due to be run this coming weekend, until the 1st and 2nd October, because of the weather.

The scent-based training uses a taxidermy penguin and penguin scent to help the dogs learn to stay away from little blue penguins, however the rainy weather will interfere with this scent. The penguin, named Penny Penguin, is on loan from the Department of Conservation.
