South Wairarapa District Mayor
Adrienne Staples and Upper Hutt City Council Paul Lambert
both took part in the re-enacted Rimutaka Crossing on 27
September 2015 which marked the centenary of the Great War
and the routes troops took marching from Featherston to
Trentham Camp, Upper Hutt. Last Sunday 25 September both
Adrienne and Paul returned to be part of the first
anniversary of the event and further recognise the stunning
memorial now in place at the Rimutaka Hill Summit at the
boundary of Featherston and Upper Hutt. A book "The Long,
Long Trai" by Neil Frances records the related
history.
