At 12pm (midday) today (15 November) Canterbury Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group declared a local state of emergency for Canterbury
The declaration was made by Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel on behalf of the member mayors on the Canterbury CDEM Joint Committee.
Group Controller Neville Reilly says, “While local state of emergencies have already been declared in both areas, the group declaration emphasises the significance of the event for Canterbury and shows that all Canterbury councils and supporting agencies are offering their support and resource.”
