Conservation experts from around the globe coming to Wellington for Wild Ideas

Wellingtonians will have the opportunity to hear first-hand from people working at the front lines of global conservation, as Wellington Zoo’s conservation partners are set to visit Wellington for the first ever Wild Ideas conservation symposium on 5th and 6th April at the Paramount Theatre.

“We turned 110 last year and as we head towards our 111th birthday, we decided to celebrate by welcoming our conservation partners from around the world, and locally to showcase the amazing work they do for wildlife conservation at Wild Ideas,” said Karen Fifield, Chief Executive.

“The Wild Ideas Conservation Symposium allows Wellington Zoo to lead the way in helping people understand the roles we can all play to care for the environment we share. Our focus is about working together to save animals in the wild and we’re thrilled to have our conservation partners echo this message at the symposium and talk about how we can secure a future for wildlife,” said Karen.

“On Monday 3rd April we will be welcoming our partners to Wellington Zoo, before they participate in Wild Ideas on Wednesday and Thursday. Wellington Zoo can only partner with these projects thanks to the support of our community and our visitors. We thank Wellingtonians for helping us to work alongside these amazing organisations to save animals in the wild.”

· Free the Bears from Asia (Sun Bears)
· Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group (Black and White Ruffed Lemurs)
· Proyecto Titi from Colombia (Cotton Top Tamarins)
· Red Panda Network from Nepal
· TRAFFIC, South East Asia
· Kea Conservation Trust
· Save the Tasmanian Devil Programme
· Jane Goodall Institute (Chimpanzees)
