We also want to remind people about the scheduled road closure for SH1 south of Kaikoura coming up. SH1 South of Kaikoura between Peketa and Goose Bay is scheduled to CLOSE to all traffic for FIVE days.
• Closes: Monday 4 September after the 7am local drive-through
• Reopens: Friday 8 September for a local 6pm drive-through
During this closure we will be dislodging further materials from a number of hazardous rockface sites and it will be too dangerous for vehicles to travel through. Please use Inland Route 70. All dates/times are subject to weather, seismic and other conditions.
Thank you for your support and patience while our crews work hard to complete these essential works to reopen SH1 by end of the year.
