Start your engines - the Pork Pie Charity Run for KidsCan sells out in minutes

We’re taking this car to Invercargill! 60 intrepid duos have snapped up places for a road trip like no other - the 2019 Pork Pie Charity Run. In homage to the classic 1981 movie “Goodbye Pork Pie”, teams will drive their beloved Minis more than 2,500km from Kaitaia to Invercargill. Registrations for the quintessentially Kiwi event - taking place next Easter - sold out in minutes last week.

KidsCan is proud to be chosen as the event’s charity partner for the third year running. “We’re so excited that kids in need continue to be supported by this brilliant event,” KidsCan Founder and CEO Julie Chapman says. “Last year’s event raised over $220,000 - it means we can ensure children get to school warm and dry, in good shoes, and with full tummies for learning. We’re really thankful to the Pork Pie Charity Run team and look forward to smashing that total in 2019.”

The charity run is a biennial event that started in 2009, attracting teams from as far away as the United Kingdom. The epic week-long journey will push the tiny Minis and their drivers to the limit, as they climb over chilly mountain passes, navigate winding valleys, and try to keep up on long straights. They’ll be waved through our biggest cities and smallest towns, visiting KidsCan partner schools along the way. A fighting spirit, some Kiwi ingenuity and a comprehensive tool box will be key to going the distance.
The event takes place from the 19th - 24th April, 2019.
