Funeral arrangements
The Department of Conservation (DOC) is working closely with the families of senior rangers Paul Hondelink and, Scott Theobald on the arrangements for their funerals.
The Hondelink family has this morning confirmed that Hondy’s funeral will be this Sunday 28 October 2pm at the Alpine Helicopter Hangar at Wanaka Airport.
The Theobald family will be holding two funeral services for Scott; one at 2pm, Wednesday 31 October at Glentanner Station in Aoraki/Mt Cook and one at 2pm, Saturday 3 November in Whangarei. The venue for the Whangarei service is still to be confirmed.
Yesterday the Wallis family confirmed that the funeral for Nick Wallis will be 2pm this Saturday, 27 October, also at the Alpine Helicopter Hangar.
“New Zealanders feel keenly the loss and I expect there will be many who wish to personally farewell these three great men,” says Graeme Ayres, who is the DOC family liaison.
