Business development manager to boost Digital Basecamp
Business development manager to boost Digital Basecamp growth
One year after its official opening, Rotorua's
Digital Basecamp has secured its spot as the city's tech
industry driver, as the growth in the local IT sector
continues.
The co-working space was set up by Nige Ward, Potaua Biasiny-Tule, Nikolasa Biasiny-Tule, and Matt Browning and has gone from strength to strength. The demand in the local sector has prompted the need for a Business Development Manager, with Rotorua's David Remmerswaal taking the reigns.
David joins Digital Basecamp after a successful stint at Dubzz Digital Marketing and is excited about the potential of the new role.
Digital Basecamp director Nige Ward says the vision for Basecamp was to help grow the tech industry in Rotorua and put a spotlight on the innovation happening in the region.
"There are so many
people choosing to work from Rotorua because it is an
amazing place, and they are doing incredibly unique things.
We wanted to create a space which brought those people
together and helped them progress their ideas and
projects."
"Basecamp is all about innovation and
collaboration," David says.
"I want to make people more
aware of all the awesome projects that are happening within
Basecamp and Rotorua."
David will not only be connecting
people for various projects, but also with the wider
industry and the Rotorua community.
He already has wide
links in the community as a member of Big Brothers Big
Sisters, Toastmasters, a previous Dancing with the Rotorua
Stars competitor, and Westpac Rotorua Business Awards
finalist as Employee of the Year.
"There is a real buzz
about David joining Basecamp," Nige says.
"He has the
right connections both inside the industry and the community
and can help make people more aware of what is happening. He
will be the overarching connector and will help develop
Basecamp and put our local industry on the map."
David
will also be organising workshops and seminars for both the
wider tech community and the general public.
