Inclusive fun on the horizon with Trentham Memorial Park playground upgrade

Resurfacing of Trentham Memorial Park playground begins 6 May, supporting inclusive fun in Upper Hutt.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 03 May 2019—Starting Monday 6 May, Trentham Memorial Park playground will be closed to the public so the wood chip can be replaced with rubber safety surfacing.

This work is part of the Trentham Memorial Park Upgrade project outlined in Council's Long Term Plan 2018 – 2028. The project aims to provide facilities to make the playground more inclusive, improve accessibility, and enhance its value as a local destination play space alongside Harcourt and Maidstone Parks.

After the playground matting has been installed the next stage of the playground upgrade will be the installment of an interactive water-play feature. This is expected to start later in the year.

The combination of bush remnants and open space makes Trentham Memorial Park a unique haven for both nature lovers and active recreation, with cricket, soccer, and rugby played during the year. It provides important linkages to the Hutt River and Rimutaka Cycle Trail which in turn links various other reserve areas. The park is also a great setting for recreational activities and events that are enjoyed by local residents as well as public from the wider Wellington region.
