It has been a terrible night for thousands of Aucklanders, following widespread damage, displacement, and disruption from flooding and torrential rain.
Auckland is currently under a state of local emergency.
Early this morning, Mayor Wayne Brown will attend briefings with teams across Auckland Council managing the emergency response before meeting with Prime Minister Chris Hipkins.
The Mayor will also visit affected communities in the days ahead.
