Urgent Tree Removal Work On SH1 South Of Whangarei
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is advising motorists to expect delays of up to ten minutes for travel this morning on SH1 at Mata, south of Whangarei, while contractors undertake urgent tree removal work.
Several trees have fallen next to the highway and root systems are failing exposing the remaining trees to risk of falling. Trees require urgent removal to ensure the safety of motorists.
Delays of up to ten minutes are expected while trees are felled and removed, with Stop/Go temporary traffic control in place. The work is expected to be completed by midday.
NZTA asks drivers to slow down, be patient and comply with all temporary traffic management measures in order to ensure their own safety, and that of contractors and other road users.
