Thomas Morgan, Wellington City Council Eastern Ward Candidate is suggesting that people with disability parking permits who need extra space to enter and exit their vehicles either with or without a wheelchair be allowed to use two spaces at the same time for the cost of one.

“It seems like an obvious idea and of course not as good as assigned disability parking which must remain, however when possible using two adjacent parks at once will be quite a viable idea in many cases. Admittedly access to the footpath will be an issue so it will be up to the park user to ensure that they can reach the footpath safely.” He said.

The election occurs on 11 October with voting starting from 9 September when voting papers start to be posted out.
