Severe wet weather is expected across the Coromandel Peninsula from 9:00am today to 6:00am Thursday 22 Jan. Forecasts show 200–250mm of rain, especially over higher ground, with peak rates of 15–25mm per hour on Wednesday. There is a low risk of localised downpours up to 25–40mm per hour, and a moderate chance the warning could be upgraded to Red.

• Surface flooding and slips
• Difficult driving conditions

• Clear drains and gutters around your property
• Secure loose items outdoors
• Avoid low-lying areas and drive cautiously
