Get On Your Bike And Go This Go By Bike Day
Wellingtonians are encouraged to get on their bikes and join the celebrations atGo by Bike Day under the sails atQueens Wharf tomorrow.
Hosted byWellington City Council, in partnership with local businesses and community organisations, the event is part of theAotearoa Bike Challenge, a month-long celebration of cycling across Aotearoa.
From 7.30am to 9am on Tuesday 10 February, it’ll be a morning to celebrate Wellington’s cycling community with free kai, coffee, giveaways, and activitiesfor everyone who rides in.
Whether you’re commuting, cruising, or giving biking a go for the first time, it’s a fun and relaxed way to celebrate Wellington’s growing cycling scene.
If you don’t have a bike, no worries – come along anyway to learn about local bike hire and share options fromSwitched On Bikes, Flamingo, and other local partners.
Get involved with the Aotearoa Bike Challenge
Taking part in the Challenge is easy – justregister online, hop on your bike for at least 10 minutes during February, and you’ll go in the running forheaps of prizes, including aSpecialised eBike worth $3,500, thanks toWorkride!
Last year, over3,700 Wellingtonians from more than 400 workplacestook part in the national event, collectively riding450,000 kmand saving nearly37 tonnes of CO. With the Challenge already rolling through February, Go by Bike Day helps build on that momentum – encouraging even more people to experience the everyday joy and freedom of getting around bypaihikara/bike.
