Community Call To Action – Protect Fair Funding For Devonport-Takapuna
Lake House Arts is asking our community to speak up.
Auckland Council’s proposed Annual Plan 2026/2027 places real pressure on Devonport-Takapuna, while risking reductions to the local services that help keep our communities connected. This includes funding for events, contestable grants, community groups, arts facilities, and local programmes.
According to the consultation document, the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board is facing an indicative $0.6 million increase in the cost of delivering existing services. That means funding may need to be reduced across key community-facing areas.
This matters deeply to us, and to the wider community we serve.
“Lake House Arts, Depot, Michael King Writers Centre, The Pumphouse, Devonport Museum, The Rose Centre and North Shore Brass have all been directly named in the Have Your Say survey as options for potential funding cuts. All these community organisations are in danger.” - Grae Burton
At Lake House Arts, our mission is to provide an accessible and affordable heritage arts facility for our whole community. When local funding is squeezed, the impact is real. It affects participation, wellbeing, arts access, and the free or low-cost opportunities that so many people and families rely on.
We are asking you to make a submission to Auckland Council.
Please make a submission and help protect the local services that matter to our community.
