Waikato Volunteer Awards Return To Honour Community Heroes
The Volunteering Waikato Annual Volunteer Awards are set to shine a spotlight once again on the incredible individuals and teams who give their time, skills, and passion to strengthen communities across the region.
Held annually as part of National Volunteer Week, the awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers throughout the Waikato. From preserving the history of the Waikato to providing vital services and leadership, volunteers play a crucial role in enriching lives and creating stronger, more connected communities.
The awards feature a diverse range of categories, including Individual (Hamilton and Regional), Youth, Team, Long Service, Governance, Event, and the much-loved Unsung Hero Award, which recognises those who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Nominations are open to anyone wishing to acknowledge an individual or team making a meaningful difference. Community organisations and members of the public are encouraged to put forward the volunteers who inspire them, ensuring their efforts are recognised and celebrated. Nominations close Sunday 3rd May.
“Volunteers are the heartbeat of our communities,” says Volunteering Waikato. “These awards are an opportunity to say thank you and highlight the extraordinary impact volunteers have across our region.”
With hundreds of volunteers contributing across sectors such as health, environment, social services, and events, the Annual Volunteer Awards serve as a powerful reminder of the generosity and community spirit that defines the Waikato.
Nominations are now open, and everyone is encouraged to take part in recognising the people who make a difference every day.
