Shell Delighted – “Democracy And
Commerce In Action”
Shell is delighted with this
evening’s Fletcher Challenge shareholder vote which gave
approval for Shell and Apache to purchase Fletcher Challenge
Energy.
Shell New Zealand Chairman, Ed Johnson, said Shell is especially pleased not just for Fletcher Challenge and its shareholders, but also for the people of New Zealand.
“Shell will now be able to create new opportunities for all New Zealanders through further development of the country’s energy resources.”
Today we have seen democracy and commerce in action, Mr Johnson said.
“Now we get to do what we’re really good at, and that’s operational excellence.”
Mr Johnson said Shell remains mindful that today’s vote signifies the crossing of another major hurdle, and that final approval still needs to be given by the Court on March 15.
