New Human Resources And Government Affairs Manager At Ford New Zealand

Barbara Harrison has been appointed Human Resources and Government Affairs Manager at Ford New Zealand. Barbara's new position follows the recent departures of Nicola Brehaut (Human Resources) and Lisa Franklin (Public & Government Affairs) to postings in the United Kingdom.

Ms. Harrison returns to Ford New Zealand after a two and a half year absence, during which time she was working as the Learning Development Manager at the Broadmeadows Assembly Plant, and then as the Human Resources Manager at the Geelong Stamping Plant, Ford Australia.

"Both jobs, because of the size of the operations, provided a number of challenges – there were 2200 people employed at Broadmeadows and another 1100 at Geelong. What I leant from experiences in Australia will be highly applicable to Ford New Zealand," said Ms. Harrison.

The Government Affairs portfolio is an aspect of her job that Barbara is eager to develop and expand.

"Government affairs and the associated issues are something that I have an interest in, as they have a wide-ranging and specific impact on the motor industry and in turn possible Human Resource implications for the company. It is an element of my job that I am looking forward to becoming involved in."

Ms. Harrison sees her return to Ford New Zealand as a great opportunity to live once again in her home country.

"Another part of the attraction is working in the current rapidly changing business environment. I have had a great deal of experience providing Human Resource solutions to meet specific requirements in Australia, and I am eager to apply my skills at Ford New Zealand again."
