Needlework ahead!

July 22, 2002

Needlework ahead!

"It's going to be like finding a needle in a haystack."

This from Kachingo! spokesperson Mary Vance after a southern motorway motorist who stopped at BP Connect Bombay won last night's $100,000 Kachingo! draw.

The lucky driver called in to the motorway service area yesterday (Sunday, July 21) buying a Sunday paper, a small bottle of orange-lime soft drink and $32.33 worth of premium grade petrol. The total amount spent was $35.43.

"We've got a good record of tracking down our big winners but this one is going to be a little more difficult - this motorist could live anywhere between Whangarei and Wellington," Ms Vance says.

"I urge everyone who travelled on the southern motorway south of Auckland last Sunday to empty their wallets and turn their cars inside out to find their Kachingo! tickets."

Apart from this week's winner, of the eight $100,000 first division Kachingo! prize tickets issued since the rewards scheme went weekly, five have already been claimed.

Outstanding $100,000-winning Kachingo! tickets were issued at Woolworths on Waiheke Island in April, at Big Fresh Whangarei in June and Big Fresh Dunedin earlier this month.

It is the second big prize issued by BP Connect Bombay. The service station issued a $1,000 winning ticket on July 7.

BP spokesperson Jane Diver says it's a great result for BP to have another big winner.

"One of our Auckland customers won $250,000 in a January draw and we've had lots of $1,000, $20 and $5 winners but it's great to score a big one again.

"Here at BP we've now issued tickets to the value of more than $500,000 since October last year. It just goes to show how important it is for people to keep checking their tickets - anyone can win, even by spending as little as $35."

BP outlets around the country also issued five $1,000 prize winning tickets in this week's draw.

Kachingo! prize winners have up to six months from the draw date to claim their prizes. It's easy to check whether or not you have a winning ticket. Just take it to any Kachingo! partner store, or go online at www.kachingo.co.nz.

Prizes of $1,000 or more must be claimed from Global Online Promotions by telephoning 0-9-309 4055. Smaller prizes of less than $100 must be collected in-store.

Since October when BP joined the Kachingo! programme, shoppers at the service station chain have been issued with winning tickets to the value of more than $540,000.
