Marketing Professional Of The Year

CAANZ Media Release

Marketing Professional Of The Year Announced At Effie® Awards

At the inaugural New Zealand EFFIE Awards last night Jonathan Symons, General Manager of Marketing for ASB Bank was honoured as Marketing Professional of the Year.

ASB Bank is known for its marketing, and part of the reason for this is Jonathan Symons, who has been in his current role for the past 2 years.

He is described as being visionary, and championing a marketing philosophy which “blends customer satisfaction with organisational goals”.

Symons is described as a calm and effective leader of his marketing team.

His work was judged by the EFFIE panel, which considered his achievements over the past 12 months to be exceptional. They cited achievements including:

- “60 minute home loan challenge” which guaranteed customers home lending approvals within a one hour timeframe
- “Stress free home loans” which enabled ASB Bank to build a database of future borrowers through offering incentives such as removal of processing fees and coving lawyers’ fees
- “Bank Switching” to take the hassle out of changing banks for new customers

The EFFIE judges said that there was clear and demonstrable evidence that these initiatives had extended ASB Bank’s reputation and service, and had tangibly led to strong growth and profit gains for the bank.
