Report Reflects Consumer Spending In New Zealand

MEDIA DIARY NOTE
25 October 2002

Regular Report Reflects Consumer Spending In New Zealand

The Paymark system run by Electronic Transaction Services Ltd (ETSL) processes approximately 90% of New Zealand’s electronic payment transactions. It is therefore effectively able to measure the general ‘pulse’ of electronic payment transactions across the nation on a regular basis.

Paymark Pulse will be the only report that gives up to date information on both debit and credit electronic payment transactions nationally.

Because the level of transactions can vary due to various consumer spending patterns Paymark Pulse will be issued as a regular topical report.

The commentary will include information such as total dollar value of transactions, information relating to special trading days (e.g. Easter) and information broken down for the regions if applicable.

We will be distributing the first report of Paymark Pulse on 30 October 2002 reflecting spending over Labour Weekend, and will ensure you get a faxed copy. Each week in December we will be distributing Paymark Pulse to reflect Christmas shopping spending.

Please visit www.paymark.co.nz for more.
