BIA Welcomes Release of Information
The Building Industry Authority today welcomed the release of information by Government on leaky building syndrome.
Chairman Barry Brown said there was a significant volume of material which he believed would assist the Government Administration Select Committee inquiry into the weathertightness issue.
“It also shows that, despite some claims to the contrary, the Authority has been taking action on the matter for some time.
Mr Brown also acknowledged the request from Internal Affairs Minister, Hon George Hawkins, to explain why it had not informed or advised him earlier on the matter.
Mr Brown said the Authority acknowledged that it had a responsibility to keep the Minister fully appraised of significant building industry matters.
He said the Authority would provide that explanation to the Minister as soon as possible.
Until that advice is provided, the
Authority will not be commenting further on the matter.
