Tinning And Christie Head Axis Team

4th February 2003: The 23rd AXIS Awards organising team has been announced, with Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Ian Christie taking over the 2 year term as Chairman of AXIS and Saatchi's Auckland Creative Director Andrew Tinning taking on the role of Convenor of Judges working with CAANZ Events Manager, Clare Cassrels.

Andrew Stone of GeneratorBates has been chairman for the past two years and says that it has been a great experience. "AXIS is so important to our industry in terms of encouraging and rewarding outstanding creativity. It's a fine tradition and it's in safe hands with Ian Christie".

Stone also paid tribute to Mike O'Sullivan of Colenso BBDO who has been Convenor of Judges for AXIS for the past 2 years.

"The time Mike committed to AXIS was phenomenal. He took the role very seriously and his contribution has helped strengthen and develop the award program," said Stone.

Mike O'Sullivan said that the Judging Convenor role had been "very challenging but hugely enjoyable."

O'Sullivan has been working closely with Tinning to ensure a smooth transition, and confirmed that he will be involved in judging as a member of the main panel.

Executive Director of CAANZ, Lynne Clifton said, "We really appreciate the time and work that both Andrew Stone and Mike O'Sullivan have given to the industry in terms of their commitment to AXIS - so much of it is behind the scenes and goes unacknowledged, but the awards wouldn't have the status they enjoy without that level of senior industry support.

If the importance of an activity is measured by the amount of time and attention people give to it, then AXIS remains very high on our list of priorities."

The AXIS Awards Call for Entries is online on www.caanz.co.nz.

Entries close on Monday 14th April, and the Awards ceremony is on Thursday 24th July.
